After installing the clutch, aligning it, trying to get the box on numerous times, re-aligning the clutch again, and trying multiple combinations of all the previously mentioned, I have finally completed the Z32 gearbox conversion on my S15.
For anyone wishing to do this conversion, you can pickup a conversion kit from Nigel (username Nigel) over at NissanSilvia.com. The kit contains an adapter plate which bolts on to your engine, to which the gearbox bolts on to. The bellhousing of your gearbox needs to be machine to fit, but Nigel can organise this for you at an additional cost.
I completed this conversion as a result of a fried clutch, so decided to use an OS Giken twin plate clutch with the Z32 gearbox. Of course, I picked this up through AusPerformance (shameless plug). It started off looking awesome bolted up to the engine, with it’s sexy red anodised cover… But installing the gearbox got the better of it, and it now has a few nasty scratches on it… Not to worry, you can’t see it anyway!
So there’s really not much left to do now, really only need to make up the exhaust parts and then it’s ready to turn over. So little to do, yet so far away.
